Rise Above Plastics

Plastic does not biodegrade in our lifetimes. Almost all plastic ever made still exists somewhere, in some form. Plastic bags in particular are a common source of plastic pollution in the Ventura area. The goal of our campaign is to reduce the impact of plastics in the marine environment by raising community awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution and by presenting alternatives. We are advocating locally for a reduction of single-use plastics, the recycling of all plastics, and the promotion of biodegradable and reusable options. Follow our campaign on the Rise Above Plastics Facebook page and learn more from Surfrider’s national Rise Above Plastics campaign.

Congratulations to California for saving its statewide plastic bag ordinance by passing Prop. 67! Click Here for a summary of that fight in 2016.
