Celebrating Black History Month

During the celebration of the nation’s first African American History Month,, President Gerald R. Ford urged Americans to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” 

This Black History Month, we are taking this opportunity to celebrate our activists, friends, colleagues and like minded organizations from within the Surfrider network.

These organizations are breaking down barriers for black communities by promoting #DiversityintheLineup, whether that is in the ocean or outside on land. Our success and impact depends on learning from our community, standing in solidarity with our allies and working towards a more just future, both for our organization and the environmental movement as a whole.
