Better late than never, right? Joining a campaign or volunteering at Surfrider is welcomed anytime! Nothing says community like working together to make our home a better place!

We have a few pertinent volunteer opportunities ahead that could use your help!

WHERE: Discovery Ventura- Backyard Bash

WHEN: 4/7/2018

TIME: 12pm-7:30pm

Discovery Ventura will be hosting an outdoor concert called Backyard Bash where there will be live music, good eats, and local vendors. Surfrider has helped the music venue transition from plastic straws to biodegradable straws! In support of green friendly venues in Ventura, we will have a booth set-up at the all day event. To be a volunteer for this event, please fill out this form, and we will be in contact with you.

WHERE: Ventura's EcoFest (Earth Day Celebration)

WHEN: 4/21/2018

TIME: 10am-4pm

The award-winning Ventura Earth Day Eco Fest brings fun, entertainment, children’s activities, exhibitors, and education to Plaza Park. Each year this successful community event is attended by over 5,000 people and 80 exhibitors. Come help us celebrate our environment at the beautiful Plaza Park. If you would like to volunteer for this event, please fill out this form, and we will be in contact with you.

WHERE: C-Street Beach Cleanup

WHEN: 3/24/2018

TIME: 9am-11am

We will be hosting our monthly Beach Cleanup. We need volunteers to help grab supplies from the office, help set up at the promenade, as well as volunteers to participate in cleaning up our beach. We are looking at a great weather forecast, and a much needed cleanup after the rain. Please invite friends, as we are looking to expand our leadership team. If you are new to volunteering, please fill out This waiver form before you arrive and bring it with you to the cleanup. If you are interested in participating in beach cleanups, please email: beachcleanups@ventura.surfrider.org

Participate in this months beach cleanup during whale migration month and get a chance to win whale watch tickets for two with our friends at Island Packers! To enter the raffle, you must attend the event from 9am-11am. Feelin' lucky?!

Active Campaigns need YOU!

Climate Education Project: The Surfrider Climate Education pilot project is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the team and help educate beach goers about climate change impacts in our local community. This is a great opportunity for those interested in education, community outreach, and climate change. Applications are due March 19th. Email Angela (akim@civicspark.lgc.org) with questions.

Ocean Friendly Gardens (OFG): Help local residents, businesses, and campuses transform their original landscapes into ocean-friendly, pollution absorbing dreamscapes! Visit their campaign page here.

Hold On To Your Butt (HOTYB): This program aims to raise awareness about the environmental impact of cigarette butt litter on our oceans, waves and beaches, and to help eliminate cigarette butt litter in Ventura and beyond. Our program needs volunteers to help input data, clear ashcans, and help to create an app that keeps track of locations of ashcans. Want to help? More information here.

Surfer's Point Dune Restoration: The dune restoration project at Surfer’s Point near the Ventura River is a prime example of adapting to living coastlines rather than building a seawall or other structure. The native plants in the dunes need semi-regular maintenance to make sure they don’t get overgrown or trampled. Workdays will be posted on our calendar.

Drilling is Killing: Write to your local city council people, let's stop drilling off of our coasts! For all the details and information please visit here.

AS ALWAYS: We appreciate all volunteers and we continue to encourage you to bring friends to our monthly beach cleanups and our monthly chapter meetings.
