On April 3, 2023, Port Hueneme City Council unanimously approved the proposed Ordinance to ban EPS and Single-Use Plastic and Bioplastic Foodware Here is a link to the Staff Report for the CC Meeting and the Ordinance.
Surfrider Foundation Ventura County Chapter leaders educated City Councilmembers about the need to take action on plastic pollution and advocated for this ordinance. The ban will go into effect on May 4, 2023. Thereafter there will be a 6 month education period for the public and the enforcement of the ban will begin on November 4, 2023.
Port Hueneme has now joined the cities of Ojai, Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo and Thousand Oaks in banning EPS AND it has also banned single use food ware!!! THANK YOU Port Hueneme City Council!!!
