City of Ventura Opposes New Offshore Oil Drilling Plan!

On May 7th, 2018, Ventura City Council voted 4-2 in favor of sending a letter opposing the threat of new offshore oil drilling in Southern California to the Secretary of the Interior and other key officials. This adds to the groundswell of local, regional and statewide opposition to open up more federal waters off California to increased oil drilling.

If you see these councilmembers around town please thank them for their support or send them an email to say thanks:
Mayor Neal Andrews: nandrews@cityofventura.ca.gov
Deputy Mayor Matt LaVere: mlavere@cityofventura.ca.gov
Councilmember Cheryl Heitmann: cheitmann@cityofventura.ca.gov
Councilmember Erik Nasarenko: enasarenko@cityofventura.ca.gov
Councilmember Christy Weir: cweir@cityofventura.ca.gov
(Councilmember Heitmann was absent for the vote but helped to introduce the item to the agenda for discussion.)

"Thanks for sending letters of opposition to the Secretary of the Interior and other key officials regarding their 5-year drilling plan that includes the threat of new oil drilling in federal waters off Southern California." and add your personal reasons.

The only change was to add sending a letter to the Secretary of the Interior.
