Respect the Rincon Parkway - August 8th
Sixteen volunteers picked up 76 pounds of trash and 35 pounds of recycling, including 955 cigarette butts, a new program record! We recycle cigarette butts because they contain a plastic filter that ends up in our marine food web in the Santa Barbara Channel when they are not properly disposed of.
Keep sharing your love for the ocean and make a difference to our local marine ecosystems in the Santa Barbara Channel at our next Rincon Parkway Cleanup on the second Saturday of the month!
Ormond Beach Cleanups - August 15th
There were Bulldogs all over Hueneme Beach Park Saturday the 15th!! Buena High Bulldogs, that is. Thanks to the cheerleaders and all the volunteers (45 total) for collecting 83 pounds of trash off the beach and surrounding area.

Ventura Promenade/C St. Cleanups - August 22nd

Many thanks to the 55 passionate community volunteers who came out to C St. on August 22 and removed 81 pounds of trash and recycling and 1,100 cigarette butts from the beach and promenade, including a group from ACHE and the dynamic duo in full-bucket mode on 6 wheels. The ocean needs more friends like you! 🌊💙☀️

Blue Water Task Force
Summer BWTF students Tyler and Ashlyn measuring the Ventura River for turbidity, pH, dissolved oxygen, water temperature, and salinity in the water for conditions that may lead to benthic algae mats producing cyanotoxins.
Our regular season for marine water sampling begins in November. We need water samplers who can substitute for our regular team members on Thursday mornings.
