Ventura Ocean Outfall Update

The City of Ventura plans to construct an ocean outfall extending approximately 6,800 feet offshore from Marina Park near the Ventura Harbor. The outfall and associated pipeline will ultimately dispose of concentrated "brine" from the planned "Ventura Water Pure" wastewater recycling facility.

A new underground pipeline will connect the existing Ventura Water Reclamation Facility to the ocean outfall. Construction could start later this year if the California Coastal Commission and State Lands Commission approve the final permits.

While this will be disruptive in the short term, the long-term benefits are substantial. In addition to restoring the Santa Clara River Estuary, the City of Ventura is moving towards an affordable drought-proof water supply to help meet future needs.
